BundleSense ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal and business data of merchants who install and use the App.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and how we protect it.
1. Information We Access
When you install BundleSense, we access limited store data through Shopify's APIs, strictly to provide product recommendation functionality.
1.1 Store and Product Data
We may access:
- Store identifier (merchant ID)
- Product IDs, titles, and variants
- Product availability (in stock / out of stock)
This data is used to generate and display product recommendations.
1.2 Order Data (Read-Only)
BundleSense reads historical and new orders from your store, including:
- Order ID
- Order date
- Line items (product and variant IDs)
- Quantities
- Order totals (price in cents)
- Currency
We do not access:
- Customer names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Shipping or billing addresses
- Payment method details
Order data is used only for statistical analysis to identify products that are frequently purchased together.
1.3 Event Data (App-Generated)
When the BundleSense widget is shown or interacted with, we may record:
- Widget impressions
- Product clicks
- Add-to-cart actions triggered from the widget
- Anonymous session identifiers
This data is:
- Non-personal
- Used to measure performance and improve recommendations
2. How We Use Data
We use collected data solely to:
- Generate product-pair recommendations
- Rank recommendations by performance metrics (e.g. lift, confidence)
- Display relevant upsell widgets on product pages
- Measure aggregate performance (e.g. average order value lift)
- Improve the accuracy of future recommendations
We do not use data for:
- Advertising
- Marketing outside the App
- Cross-merchant analysis
- Selling or sharing data
Each merchant's data is processed in isolation.
3. Data Storage and Retention
- Order data may be stored in aggregated or anonymized form.
- Older orders may be archived or deleted to maintain performance.
- Merchants on lower tiers may have limits on the number of stored orders.
- Event data may be retained for analytical purposes.
- We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the App's functionality.
When the App is uninstalled:
- All associated merchant data is deleted within a reasonable timeframe, unless retention is legally required.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade merchant or order data.
Data may be shared only:
- If required by law
- With infrastructure providers strictly for hosting and processing (e.g. database or cloud services), under confidentiality agreements
No third party may use this data for their own purposes.
5. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data, including:
- Secure API access
- Restricted database access
- Encryption in transit where applicable
However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Merchant Responsibilities
Merchants are responsible for:
- Informing customers about installed apps that process order data
- Ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws (e.g. GDPR, CCPA)
BundleSense processes data as a service provider to the merchant.
7. Children's Privacy
BundleSense is not intended for use by children and does not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 16.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When changes are made:
- The updated version will be posted within the App or on our website
- The "Last updated" date will be revised
- Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
